The Wehmeyer family has been in the Upper Valley since 2015 and at Home on the Connecticut since 2021. The Wehmeyers live on-site and manage the property.
Due to the lack of quality weekly and monthly housing options in the Upper Valley, the Wehmeyers chose to shift the property focus from it’s B&B roots to meeting the short-term needs of traveling health care workers, visiting faculty/scholars, people needing a place until they can find a home to purchase, families of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center patients, seasonal workers, and others in a time of transition.
Home on the Connecticut sits on 23 acres in rural Lyme, just a dozen miles north of Hanover and Dartmouth College.
The building was built in 1996 in the tradition of Shaker simplicity as a New England Bed & Breakfast. The main house (8 units), and the dodecagon-shaped building (8 units), are bright, airy, and uncluttered.
There is cherry trim throughout, a stunning spiral staircase leading to the two studio suites, and lovely river views throughout the grounds.
Two common rooms provide ample room to sit and relax indoors, while our screened porch offers a comfortable space to enjoy the views on a rainy day. On those clear days, however, you’ll enjoy one of our Adirondack chairs overlooking the river where you can sit back and take in the wonderful views.
We have all the relative comforts you would expect in an upscale New England accommodation, including private baths, A/C, smart TVs, radiant heat, super-fast WIFI, and excellent cell service.
